Keara Lee-Potter, Executive Director
Keara is the Executive Director and has been at Summit Place of Beaufort for 3 years. Following graduation from Lander University, she moved to Charleston, where she met her husband, Ryan, and began her career in Business Administration. Now residing in Beaufort, Keara and Ryan have 2 beautiful daughters, Kirra Grace and Anna Nelson. Aside from spending time with her family, she also enjoys gardening, swimming, and riding her bicycle. Keara’s all-time favorite activities with the residents at Summit Place of Beaufort are sharing jokes with them and listening to their stories about past events in their lives.

Phyllis Davis, Business Office Manager
Phyllis is the Business Office Manager and has been at Summit Place of Beaufort since the doors opened 10 years ago. She is the lady in charge of most of the behind-the-scenes action and greatly contributes to keeping Summit Place of Beaufort successful and in operation. Phyllis is devoted to the hundreds of families and residents that she has worked with through the years and considers each of them family. Born and raised here, Phyllis loves to reminisce with the residents about the olden days of Beaufort.

Penny Mont, Director of Sales and Marketing
Penny is the Director of Sales and Marketing and serves as a liaison for many of Summit Place of Beaufort’s families. She began her career as a Special Education teacher in New York and has continued climbing the professional ladder thereafter. Shortly following her mother’s diagnosis of Dementia, Penny was inspired to return to school where she grandfathered her Permanent Teacher’s Certificate Master’s level into Geriatric Recreation Therapy. Four years after this achievement, she moved to South Carolina and began to contribute her time and effort towards the creation of the first Alzheimer’s Day Center and Home Education in Beaufort where she was employed for 10 years. In October 2007, Penny joined the Summit Place of Beaufort Team and began enriching the lives of the residents and family members.
Penny raised two daughters plus a foster daughter and has 2 grandchildren. She enjoys reading, writing, kayaking, shrimping and traveling plus enjoys her wonderful 92 lb. Belgian Sheepdog, Bart.

Tomian Cooler, Director of Health Services
Tomian is the Director of Health Services at Summit Place of Beaufort. She received her Nursing Degree in 1988 and has since practiced nursing in various settings, including hospitals and private practices in Ridgeland, Hilton Head, and Beaufort, South Carolina. Tomian and Buddy, her husband of 36 years, have together built a large and close-knit family, including 3 children and 7 grandchildren. During her past 4 years at Summit Place of Beaufort, Tomian has developed loving and nurturing relationships with each of the residents. She enjoys spending time with them on an individual basis and learning from the stories they tell about their lives. In the sparse free time that she has, Tomian enjoys reading and crocheting.

Scarlett Rizer, Director of Activities
Scarlett is the Director of Activities and began working at Summit Place of Beaufort in August 2007. She is a graduate from Clemson University with a Degree in Parks Recreation and Tourism Management and a concentration in Therapeutic Recreation. Throughout her tenure at Clemson, Scarlett specialized in geriatrics, completing an internship and work studies at various skilled care facilities. Full of energy, she keeps the residents entertained with an abundant supply of activities which benefit their social, emotional, and physical well-being. In her spare time, Scarlett enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, and being outdoors.

Paul Hinsley, Director of Food & Beverage
Paul is the Director of Food & Beverage at Summit Place of Beaufort and has done a commendable job enhancing the dining experience for the residents. Forty-one years ago, Paul became a Certified Chef and has since then continued his talent as the Executive Chef for various businesses, including Club Corporation of America, Richland Country Club, and the Weather Channel. Twenty of those years have also been devoted to his wife, Kay, along with their 3 beautiful daughters and 5 vivacious grandchildren. Paul keeps smiles on the faces of the team and residents at Summit Place of Beaufort with his witty sense of humor and his entertaining cooking classes which he offers every other Wednesday.

David Edwards, Director of Maintenance
David has been the Director of Maintenance at Summit Place of Beaufort since November 2007. A native of Columbus, Ohio and a graduate of Ohio State University, he is often recognized by his vast wardrobe of Buckeye apparel. David has a rich collegiate history in Construction Science and Psychology, both of which enhance his great success at Summit Place of Beaufort. He has one daughter, Eilish, whom he adores spending time with. In his spare time, Dave also enjoys boating and cooking, as well as his beloved Harley Davidson. At work, he enjoys assisting Chef Paul with his cooking classes, as well as implementing a truly classical dining experience for the residents.
